Peter Rono Sets Canadian Record

BURNABY, Canada — Kenya’s Peter Rono set a Canadian record of 3:35.59 in winning the men’s 1,500-meter run Sunday at the Harry Jerome International track meet at Burnaby in British Columbia.
Canadian Doug Consiglio, who attends the University of Arkansas, finished second in 3:35.82, almost four seconds better than his previous best, and went under the Olympic qualifying standard established by the Canadian Olympic Assn.
