Recently I drove from Thousand Oaks through Los Angeles on my way to Palm Desert; it took me 4 hours to get to City Hall!
My grandfather came through the same route in 1852 with five covered wagons pulled by oxen--the fastest transportation at that time. I believe he made better time than I did. What kind of progress have we really made since 1852? Transportation in Los Angeles is a mess.
Here’s my solution:
Make it illegal for any car to be on these freeways without at least two passengers. Make all trucks use just one lane on the freeways.
Of course the oil companies would oppose this, but it would be cheaper to subsidize them than to build bigger freeways.
