About 9,000 Toycraft stuffed bears are being recalled because their eyes and noses could come off and pose a choking hazard to children, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Monday.

One child was asphyxiated when the plastic nose from one of the bears became lodged in her larynx, the commission reported.

The recall covers bears labeled “Stuffed Toys for Tots and Teens” made by Toycraft Industries Inc., Brooklyn, N.Y.

The commission said that parents should return the stuffed bears to the stores where they were purchased and receive refunds.
