Local News in Brief : Zoning Board Again Falls Short of Quorum

Share

A hearing Tuesday on a Reseda nightclub’s controversial application for a permit needed to serve liquor and allow dancing was postponed shortly after it began because the Los Angeles Board of Zoning Appeals lacked a quorum.

It was the second time in a week that a zoning appeal hearing concerning a San Fernando Valley issue was postponed for that reason. On June 1, a hearing on a youth baseball league’s permit to use a city park in Sylmar was postponed.

Tuesday’s hearing concerned an appeal by owners and supporters of the Country Club, a 10-year-old nightclub on Sherman Way that was stripped on Feb. 19 of permits needed for its mix of concerts and other events. Neighbors have complained for years that the club’s patrons are noisy and litter the surrounding area.

The hearing on the Country Club was postponed until Tuesday when Patsaoras had to leave for an appointment. The board has five members.
