Swiss middle-distance runner Sandra Gasser asked a British court to overturn her two-year ban from competition for alleged drug use.

Through attorney William Blackburne, Gasser told the High Court in London that independent tests had found her to be drug-free, and that the evidence did not support findings by track’s world governing body that she used anabolic steroids, which help build muscles.

The International Amateur Athletic Federation imposed a two-year suspension on Gasser last year after traces of steroids were found in urine samples taken from her at the World Track and Field Championships in Rome.

Gasser won the bronze medal in that event. The IAAF stripped her of the medal, however, after the drug test results came in.
