Marketing companies based in Van Nuys and Scottsdale, Ariz., have agreed to repay $1.1 million to consumers who purchased their Dream Away and Advanced Dream Away diet pills, the Federal Trade Commission announced. Nutri Marketing of Van Nuys and Highcliff Inc. of Scottsdale agreed to the refund as settlement of a false advertising complaint filed by the FTC alleging that the pills did not cause weight loss without diet or exercise and did not contribute to the weight-loss effects of diet and exercise. Steve Korrey, a co-owner of Highcliff, confirmed the settlement, saying the companies agreed to split the cost.
