The state Employment Development Department is helping to coordinate a job-finding program for the white-collar jobless in Orange County.
Professional Employment Network, serving central and south county residents, operates out of the EDD office at 1001 S. Grand Ave. in Santa Ana. A sister program for the north county, Success Plus, operates out of the EDD office in Fullerton at 233 E. Commonwealth Ave. Participants spend four hours a week in the program working, in effect, as unpaid placement and job development specialists for themselves and others--doing the hunting for themselves instead of for paying clients. They also receive training in resume writing and other job-finding skills. The program is open to professionals in a variety of fields, including marketing, management, engineering, computer technology, finance and education. The two groups are sponsoring a job fair June 22 at the Anaheim Holiday Inn, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
