Driver Arrested in Death of Man Hit at Crossing
An unidentified man was killed by a motorist early Saturday in Placentia, and police have arrested the Anaheim driver.
The man was crossing Orangethorpe Avenue at Temple Street around 2:40 a.m. when he was hit by a car, Anaheim Police Sgt. Jay Fricke said.
Police arrested Albert Cruz Perez, 30, on charges of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. But Perez told police that the man was already laying on the ground--the victim of a hit-and-run driver.
Fricke said the victim was a Latino in his early 20s.
“It’s tough. They ran his fingerprints and didn’t come up with anything.” Fricke said.
