Balancing Act at Irvine World News
Having been a reporter at the Irvine World News for five years, I can say your article (May 29) on the paper’s relationship to its owner, the Irvine Co., did a good job of presenting the various political pressures and corporate weirdnesses of working there.
However, the article never answered the major question it raised: Is the paper’s coverage of land development issues slanted or incomplete because it is owned by Orange County’s major land developer?
There should have been a side-by-side analysis of how the IWN, The Times and other papers have covered major Irvine issues.
