The City’s Legal ‘Thievery’

Share

Steigerwald is to be congratulated for making the public aware of fund-raising by the traffic department. About two years ago, with a handicapped placard on my dash, I got seven tickets for parking at meters. All violations were dismissed. On the last occasion, the records were misplaced and I was harassed for several months until the computer located the record, for which I got a faint apology.

It currently seems you have to pay bail and wait six to eight weeks for a computerized appointment, where one tries to plead guilty with an extenuating circumstance. A recent case was suspended and I was told that my $53 fine would be returned in six to eight weeks, maybe.

Wouldn’t it be better for the citizenry to have their homes and children’s schools patrolled and protected from gang shootings and drug dealing?
