“I told the mayor what I saw. He said he would take care of it. I was impressed.”
--Los Angeles businessman Allen Alevy, who recently complained to Mayor Tom Bradley that winos were sleeping in an abandoned tavern near his Laundromat in South-Central Los Angeles. Within a couple of days, Alevy said, city workers posted a demolition notice on the bar and a month later the building was torn down.
