Castaic Superintendent Takes New School Post
The superintendent of the tiny Castaic School District has resigned to become head of a unified school district in Lake Arrowhead.
The resignation of Reed Montgomery, 41, becomes effective July 1, when he becomes superintendent of the 5,000-student Rim of the World Unified School District.
Montgomery was hired as Castaic superintendent six years ago and guided the district through a period of unprecedented growth. The district’s student population increased from about 400 students in 1984 to more than 1,000 this year.
Montgomery said Monday that he will work with the Castaic district as a consultant until a new superintendent is chosen. District trustees are expected to select a firm to search for a superintendent at their June 23 meeting.
