FILM AT 11: “Imagine,” the long-awaited John Lennon documentary, will be out in October--accompanied, of course, by a double-album sound track. That’s because there are 38 songs currently slated for the film, most of which will appear on the albums, which will feature alternate versions of Lennon hits, bits of dialogue and a never-before-released track, “Real Love.” . . . Has Johnny Cash been busy or what? First we heard that The Man in Black has been working on some songs with Paul McCartney (one collaboration is called “New Moon Over Jamaica”). And now we understand that he met up with U2 in Memphis, where Cash worked on some tunes with the band. . . . ‘Til Tuesday’s Aimee Mann and popster Jules Shear have split up, but apparently the break-up was amicable. The upcoming ‘Til Tuesday album, titled “Everything’s Different Now” and due in early August, includes a song titled, “J. for Jules.” . . . Chrissie Hynde and UB40, who collaborated on “I Got You Babe” a few years back, have cut a new single, an old reggae hit called “Breakfast in Bed.” . . . And our truly oddball Cover Song of the Week goes to Bryan Adams, who did a surprise nightclub concert in Vancouver a few weeks ago. After Adams was joined for several encores by visiting pal Jon Bon Jovi, he serenaded fans with his version of-- twang-- Patsy Cline’s “Walking After Midnight.”
