Going to the Eastern seaboard of the United States or Canada? Check some special programs offered by Air Canada and Eastern Air Lines.

Air Canada is offering discounts of up to 71% from Los Angeles to Eastern Canadian cities. The special rates are for “nighthawk” flights to Toronto, with connections to Montreal and other cities in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.

Round trip from LAX to Toronto costs $239 (plus tax), compared to the economy fare of $662. Round-trip LAX-Montreal fare is $299, down from $792.

Flights from LAX are at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, with arrival in Toronto at 6:30 a.m. Special fares are being sold from July 22 to Sept. 11. Travel must be made by Sept. 18. Tickets must be bought 14 days ahead, and there is a minimum-stay condition of the first Sunday after departure.

The Canadian carrier also is offering one-week car rentals that start at $65.

Even if you can’t meet the restrictions, Air Canada is offering a 10% discount on all its nighthawk flights during the promotion.

Eastern Air Lines has put together a group of three- or seven-night Florida Escape packages that include round-trip coach air fare, hotels and a rental car for less than the cost of a round-trip, full-fare economy ticket.

Some of the packages also offer admission to Walt Disney World and Cypress Gardens and a one-day SeaEscape cruise.

The packages are available to 14 Florida cities--Daytona Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. Myers, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Key West, Melbourne, Miami, Orlando, Pensacola, Sarasota, Tallahassee, Tampa/St. Petersburg and West Palm Beach.

A three-night package to Orlando starts at $718 per couple on a double-occupancy basis, with midweek LAX-Orlando flights. A similar seven-night package to Orlando begins at $1,078 per couple. The economy LAX-Orlando fare is $902, or $1,804 per couple.
