Orange : Crash of Pickup Kills Driver, Hurts Passenger
A small pickup truck speeding along Katella Avenue shortly after midnight Saturday went out of control on a curve near Main Street, crashing into a concrete light pole and killing its driver, police said.
Jeffery Williams Dickens, 21, of Placentia, was declared dead at Martin Luther Hospital in Anaheim. His passenger, Wade Donald Barclay, 20, of Yorba Linda, who was thrown from the truck and suffered head injuries, was listed in stable condition at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
Police said that the truck hit two other vehicles but that their occupants suffered only minor injuries.
