San Diego Team Wins Dragon Boat Race

SINGAPORE — The 27-member U.S. team from San Diego won the traditional Dragon Boat race Sunday in a record time of 3 minutes 5.6 seconds.
Indonesia came in second in 3:06.3 and Canada was third in 3:09.7 over the 2,297-foot course at Marina Bay before 5,000 spectators.
An Australian team won the women’s race in 3:25.4, followed by Singapore’s police squad at 3:42.9 and the Singaporean Armed Forces at 3:48.3.
Teams from Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Thailand, Great Britain and the United States took part in the year’s race.
