Maywood : County Helps Finance Mall
Maywood will receive $1 million from the county to assist its Redevelopment Agency in constructing the Slauson Square Shopping Center. The money will help with land acquisition, relocation of businesses, demolition old structures and construction of the shopping center at Slauson Avenue and Atlantic Boulevard.
The total project is expected to cost more than $10 million. Of that amount, $7.2 million is to be raised privately. Once completed, the mall is expected to create 110 permanent jobs, 83 of which are earmarked for low- and moderate-income residents of Maywood.
