Pop singer George Michael will undergo surgery this week to remove a cyst from his vocal cords, and will thus cancel the remainder of scheduled concert appearances in Europe, his publicist announced over the weekend. The operation will be performed in a London hospital on Wednesday. It will be four weeks before Michael will be allowed to sing again. The remainder of Michael’s European tour will be canceled, but the North American leg of the world “Faith Tour” will proceed as planned, beginning Aug. 6 in Washington and arriving in Los Angeles Oct. 2.
