Disney Ice Extravaganza Opens

Renowned international entertainment producer Kenneth Feld, who in the past year has opened live entertainment spectacles in cities throughout Europe and Japan, this week unveiled one of his acclaimed touring ice spectacles here featuring all the familiar Walt Disney characters.

“Walt Disney’s World on Ice Salute to Sports,” a lavish live musical production staged entirely on ice, opened here Tuesday night. The Argentina engagement is part of a tour that also includes cities in Colombia, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico before heading to Europe for a nine-country tour.

The production is one of five Walt Disney ice spectacles scheduled to appear throughout the world this year. Feld currently has two touring Walt Disney shows in the United States, one in Europe and one due to open this month in Japan.

It was Feld who conceived the idea of presenting Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and other beloved Disney personalities in a live production staged on ice. Their innovative presentation has been credited in the entertainment industry with bringing a new form of family entertainment to audiences worldwide.

Following its Buenos Aires engagement (continuing through July 31), “Walt Disney’s World on Ice Salute to Sports” will play Bogota, Colombia (Aug. 4-15), Medillin, Colombia (Aug. 18-28), Cali, Colombia (Aug. 31-Sept. 11), before moving to Venezuela, Puerto Rico and cities throughout Europe.

Producer Feld is well known worldwide as president of the legendary Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus and was to open his newly created Gold Unit in Japan today. He also will take a new version of his phenomenally successful Las Vegas hit spectacle “Beyond Belief,” starring renowned illusionists Siegfried & Roy, on a world tour this fall.
