Ferrell Wins Speedway Scratch Main Event
Dubb Ferrell of Whittier won the four-lap scratch main event Friday night in front of 6,234 spectators in the weekly speedway program at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.
Ferrell took the lead out of the first turn and went wire to wire for the win. Bart Bast of San Bernardino was second, Brad Oxley of San Clemente third and Alan Christian of Murrietta Hot Springs fourth.
Oxley won the eight-lap handicap main event. Christian was second, Bast third and Ferrell fourth.
Greg Hancock of Costa Mesa defeated Trinon Cirello of Newport Beach, 2-1, in the featured match race. Doug Bowers of Inglewood won the second-division main event and Charles Ermolenko of Cypress won the third division main event.
