Agua Caliente Racing Again After Day Off

Share

Racing will be back on schedule today at Agua Caliente because Alba Roja, a union representing 1,500 track employees, failed to properly notify track management of an intended strike that was to begin Saturday, an Agua Caliente spokesman said.

The 12-race thoroughbred card, including the $15,000 added Caliente Express Stakes, will be held today at the Tijuana track, as will greyhound races.

“We lost one day,” said the spokesman. “We couldn’t get it together quick enough. We didn’t find out until 11 a.m. (Saturday).”

The track employees have been without a contract since May 3, when Alba Roja declared a strike that lasted two days before a labor arbitrator declared the action invalid.
