Be-bop jazz great Dizzy Gillespie’s Dizzyfest Tour ’88 may be making its San Diego stop at Sea World’s Nautilus Amphitheater rather than Humphrey’s. Humphrey’s manager Kenny Weissberg said Thursday that poor advance ticket sales were responsible for the concert being pulled from the Aug. 5 schedule. Weissberg said that, as of one month before the show, only 350 of the available 2,200 tickets for two scheduled shows had been sold. Officials at the larger Nautilus about 3 miles up the road acknowledged Thursday that they are negotiating to bring Gillespie and his 14-piece Latin/Caribbean jazz band to that venue Aug. 4. Nautilus manager Ron Swallow said Gillespie would appear on a double bill with fusion jazzman Grover Washington Jr., who had been previously signed.
