Local News in Brief : Anaheim : Man, Woman Die After Car Runs Into Tree

Two elderly people were fatally injured Friday when their car struck a palm tree after the driver apparently suffered a medical emergency, police said.

Names of the victims, a 77-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman, were not released pending notification of relatives, Police Sgt. Gordon Blair said.

Blair said police and paramedics responded to the injury collision in the 500 block of North Harbor Boulevard at about 10:15 a.m. Friday.

The two people were treated at the scene and rushed to Anaheim Memorial Hospital and Western Medical Center in Anaheim, where they were pronounced dead.
