Distinctive Sis, the most experienced horse in the race with three previous starts, led all the way Saturday to win the $75,000 Landaluce Stakes for 2-year-old fillies by 1 lengths before a crowd of 26,284 at Hollywood Park.

Ridden by Alex Solis, who was winning his fifth stake of the season, Distinctive Sis ran 6 furlongs in 1:10 4/5, which was 1 1/5 seconds slower than older $62,500 claimers earlier in the day.

Distinctive Sis, running on an anti-bleeding medication for the first time, paid $9.20 to win and earned $62,250 for her owners, Jan and Mace Siegel and their daughter, Samantha. Wayne Lukas started three horses in the Landaluce, which is named for the undefeated filly he trained in 1982. The race used to be called the Hollywood Lassie, which Landaluce won by 21 lengths in a time of 1:08. Landaluce died 4 1/2 months later of an unknown virus.

Lukas’ best finisher Saturday was Lea Lucinda, who was second, 1 3/4 lengths ahead of Executive Row. Lea Lucinda and Beautiful Gold, who ran seventh, were coupled in the betting and went off as 7-5 favorites in the 11-horse field.

A Pico Rivera resident won the Pick Nine pool of $560,258.00. The bettor, who declined to identify himself, said he played a $64 ticket and picked only one winner in both the eighth and ninth races. He said he attends the races frequently.
