Share

Police made 19 drug-related arrests near Commodore Circle during a two-day surveillance that ended at 1 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The arrests were part of stepped-up enforcement in the area and bring to 34 the total of drug-related arrests on the neighborhood’s streets since mid-June, police said.

Six cars that police said were used for “transporting narcotics” were also seized during the surveillance, according to Huntington Beach Police Lt. Charles Poe.

Ten arrests were made on felony drug charges, the remainder on misdemeanor charges, police said.

Officers characterized the alleged drug deals as small but many.

Beginning Friday, Poe said, officers from the Police Department’s patrol, narcotics and special investigations divisions conducted an undercover surveillance for “spotting drug sales” on the small, three-street neighborhood near Beach Boulevard and Ellis Avenue and the Five Points Shopping Center.

Those who were seen buying or selling drugs were stopped several blocks from the apartments on Commodore Circle and two other streets, Poe said.
