San Marcos
California State University trustees have approved the expansion of an off-campus center being built in north San Diego County to a full-service university offering undergraduate and graduate courses.
The center, now operating in rented space, is to begin moving to the new campus in San Marcos in 1992. Under a staff recommendation adopted by the trustees at a meeting Wednesday in Long Beach, the campus would become a full-service university in 1995.
The new university would have 5,000 students by the year 2000 and 15,000 to 20,000 by the year 2020, according to staff estimates.
