‘Church Door Opens for U.S. Women’
Maloney’s article points out that the Catholic bishops’ most recent pastoral letter, “Partners in the Mystery of Redemption,” is still in the formative stages. The final document is scheduled for November, 1989, approval. I agree with her that a critical time is now. Women need to read the pastoral letter, reflect on it and respond to the bishops with continuing information and experience sharing.
A dream: women and men in partnership dialogue contributing to the final document. Can it happen? I believe so. The revision process can continue creatively if women and men are willing to work together to best express the concerns of women living in America.
