In tennis, Kevin Klabunde of El Cajon upset third-seeded Michael Gennette of Thousand Oaks, 6-2, 6-2, in the men’s open singles at San Diego State.

Klabunde will meet sixth-seeded Jim Ferrari in the quarterfinals beginning at 11 a.m. today.

Three of the top six seeded players have been ousted from the tournament. Chris Numbers of El Cajon defeated fifth-seeded Danny Medvene of Santa Barbara in the first round and then beat Mark Ellison of Del Mar, 6-2, 6-1, Friday.

A full schedule of junior events gets under way today at SDSU. Ditta Hubber, a 12-year-old from La Jolla, will be playing the 16-under girls and the women’s open. She will meet Jodi Neuman of La Mesa in the second round of the women’s open.

Juliana Nolan of San Diego placed first in the women’s kilometer, sprint, and pursuit events Friday to give her four cycling gold medals. By the end of the day Friday, Nolan was first in women’s total points with 27.

The San Diego Nomads soccer team went undefeated in all age divisions Friday. In boys’ under-19, the Nomads defeated Midway, 3-0, and Fresno, 2-1. In boys’ under-14, the Nomads defeated Pagasus, 6-0.
