A Los Alamitos woman picked all six numbers in the California Lottery’s midweek “Lotto 6-49” game to win $5.44 million, lottery officials said Thursday.

Jean Lamphere will receive $217,600 a year for 20 years after taxes, officials said.

Lamphere shunned publicity, and lottery officials said they were precluded from divulging any information other than her name and city of residence without her permission.

Twelve players correctly guessed five of the six numbers--1, 34, 7, 26, 47, and 37--plus the bonus, 18, to share a prize pool of $1.4 million. They will each gross $117,151, lottery officials said.

Three of the lucky dozen are: Rhoda Brown, of Sacramento; Grace Sargent, of Saginaw, Mo.; and Manuel Picon, of Anaheim. Lottery officials said they would know the other nine’s identities only as they came forward to claim their prizes.

Another 235 people who hit five of six numbers will receive $3,082. The 14,266 tickets with four numbers are each worth $46. The 237,555 winners with three numbers win an automatic $5 each.

The numbers were chosen by machine during a television broadcast originating in Sacramento.

Sales from Saturday night to Wednesday’s drawing were $13.1 million.
