The mother of a cocaine-addicted baby taken from a hospital pleaded innocent Friday to child endangerment and to stealing her own baby.
San Diego Municipal Judge Peter Riddle ordered Renita Smith, 25, to remain in jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
The 2-week-old baby, Angelica Smith, had been under treatment at Paradise Valley Hospital in National City for cocaine addiction and was allegedly taken by Smith after authorities removed the baby from her care.
A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 5 and a bail review for next week.
Smith was arrested Wednesday in Los Angeles.
