Long Wins Three Gold Medals at Karate Federation Event
Jacki Long of Yorba Linda won three gold medals in the U.S. Karate Federation’s Pacific Region championships Sunday at the Westin South Coast Plaza hotel.
Long, who competed in the adult division, qualified for the national tournament, which will be in August in Las Vegas. Nine other Orange County entrants qualified for the nationals, including Maria Silk, who won two gold medals in the adult competition.
The top six finishers in each division advance to the nationals.
Kathi Wegner of Cypress also won a gold medal in the adult division.
Kelly Eyre, Kris Kroll, Kyle Beck and Gloria Ludwig, all students of Wegner, each won gold medals.
Other gold-medal winners included Kekai Oliver of Costa Mesa, David Alduenda of Fountain Valley and Colin Morris.
