A man who failed in his bid to mount an insanity defense pleaded guilty to bilking American Express of thousands of dollars in a credit card scheme he described in a manuscript titled, “I Scam, You Scam.” Barry Sussman, 28, of Paramus, N.J., a former operator of a credit collection agency, pleaded guilty to five counts of card fraud. He faces up to 30 years in prison. Sussman told U.S. District Judge Alfred Lechner in Newark, N.J., that he obtained American Express charge cards under at least eight aliases, filling in applications with false employment and bank information. He used mail drops and answering services to deceive the company.
