Fire Damages RAND Offices
United Press International
A fire early today damaged three offices of RAND Corp., a Santa Monica think-tank that conducts research on government and national issues, authorities said.
It was not immediately clear how the blaze started in the three third-floor rooms at 1700 Main St., but investigators considered it accidental, Capt. Tom Riegner said. Only security guards were known to be in the building. Damage was estimated at $30,000 to the building and $15,000 to its contents.
