Putting those hot young actors once known as Brat Packers on horseback in the upcoming film “Young Guns” won’t be the last time moviegoers hear from Morgan Creek Productions, an upstart firm owned by James G. Robinson and Joe Roth. Robinson, an auto industry executive-turned-producer, and Roth, who directed “Revenge of the Nerds II,” announced last week that they are spending $124 million on eight films, including “Young Guns,” over the next year. “Young Guns,” which opens Aug. 12, will be followed by the Jeremy Irons-Genevieve Bujold thriller “Dead Ringers” in October, and “Skin Deep,” a Blake Edwards sex comedy that stars John Ritter, Vincent Gardenia and Julianne Phillips, next winter. Other Morgan Creek films in production include “Major League with Tom Berenger and Charlie Sheen; “Night Breed,” directed by Clive Barker, and “Lakota,” starring Kiefer Sutherland and Lou Diamond Phillips.
