Truck’s Lurch Forward Kills Man Repairing It
A Thousand Oaks man was fatally injured when a truck he had been repairing lurched forward and crushed him against the side of another truck, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported Wednesday.
George Clark, 46, was killed about 8:30 a.m. in a truck yard outside Ram Freightways in the City of Commerce, where he worked and was making repairs on a freight truck, deputies said.
Deputies said Clark apparently reached into the cab of the truck and turned the key to start the engine, not knowing that the truck was in gear and the parking break was not set. The truck lurched forward and to the left, crushing Clark against another truck that had been parked next to it.
