Pacific Palisades : Zoning for Mall Is Rejected

Share

The Los Angeles zoning administrator’s office last week rejected a developer’s bid to build a shopping center in the Palisades Highlands.

The 2-story complex proposed for the corner of Palisades Drive and Vereda de la Montura was denied a development permit by Associate Zoning Administrator Darryl Fisher. The 28,300-square-foot retail center was too large for the surrounding area, Fisher said.

“It would tend to totally change the character of the area,” Fisher said.

Stephen Frew, architect for the project, said the developer, I. Sung Won, has not decided whether to appeal the decision to the city’s Board of Zoning Appeals or to redesign the project.
