Brother Sought in Man’s Gunshot Slaying

San Diego police are searching for a man suspected of shooting his brother to death after an argument erupted between the two while they were working as roofers Friday at a North City West construction site.

Workers at the building site on Del Mar Heights Road, half a mile east of El Camino Real, said they witnessed the shooting in which Rene Ayala was stalked and shot in the back several times with a .22-caliber pistol by a person identified by police as his brother, Joel, 25.

Joel Ayala, who had argued with and threatened to kill other members of his family, was still at large Friday night, authorities said. Police said other family members have been moved to safety.
