Cal State Fullerton Roundup : 15 Home Basketball Games Set

The Cal State Fullerton men’s basketball team has 15 home games on its 1988-89 schedule, which was announced Wednesday.

Fullerton will play an exhibition game Nov. 21 against a team from Czechoslovakia at Fullerton. The Titans will play at home against Pepperdine, Sonoma State, Northeastern, Weber State, New Orleans and St. Mary’s in nonconference games in December.

Fullerton opens the Big West Conference schedule at home against New Mexico State Jan. 3. Fullerton also plays host to conference power Nevada Las Vegas on Feb. 8.

The Titans’ baseball team will have 13 new players next season, seven from community colleges and six 1988 high school graduates.

Rich Gonzales, a designated hitter and outfielder from Rancho Santiago College, heads the list of incoming players. Gonzales, from Diamond Bar High School, hit .440 and was a first-team player in the Orange Empire Conference last season.

The other incoming outfielders: Paul Bunch of Cypress College, Trevor Neighbors of College of the Desert, David Ayala of Riverside North High School and Matt McElreath of Notre Dame High School.

Sam Calarusso of Orange Coast College, Ken Hokuf of Golden West College and James Popoff of California High School, all right-handers, are incoming pitchers.

Rod Klopfer of Fullerton College, Bill Lasher of Saddleback College, Randy Graves of Riverside Poly High School and Bobby Koppenhaver of Riverside North High School are the new infielders, and Chris Ritter of Palm Springs High School is an incoming catcher.
