Local News in Brief : 3 Men Face Trial in Rape

Three Gardena men have been ordered to stand trial on charges that they gang raped a 23-year-old Malibu woman last month in a parking lot near the Manhattan Beach Pier.
South Bay Municipal Court Judge Thomas P. Allen ordered Song Dok Suh, 24, Sonny Chul Kaldenberg, 25, and Song Chul Kim, 24, to stand trial on one count each of rape and oral copulation.
Allen ruled that there was insufficient evidence to file charges against Jangkye Kye Choi, 29, who allegedly was with the other men at the pier on July 24.
Police said the woman was pulled into a car as she walked through a parking lot north of the pier at about 10:30 p.m. and raped before she managed to escape.
The defendants are scheduled to appear for arraignment Aug. 24 in Torrance Superior Court.
