Intruders robbed and terrorized two 21-year-old women in their Tustin apartment early Friday before escaping in one of the victims’ cars, according to police.
One of the women was returning to the apartment in the 14900 block of Newport Avenue around midnight when a man approached her from behind and forced her into her apartment, Tustin Police Lt. Frank Semelsberger said.
The man was joined by an accomplice. They then discovered the woman’s roommate in one of the apartment bedrooms. The roommate attempted to dial 911, but was stopped when one of the men began to choke her. He then tied her up, Semelsberger said.
The men threatened to rape both women and then ransacked the apartment for money and jewelry. They fled in one of the women’s car. It was described as a blue 1979 Honda Prelude, California license number 1 NZK 801.
