Electrical Problems No. 1 Office Fire Cause
Electrical problems were the major cause of fires in office buildings in 1987, accounting for 40%, according to a survey taken by the Washington, D.C.-based Building Owners and Managers Assn. International.
Worker carelessness was the second largest cause (19%), with smoking, third (12%) and arson fourth (10%). In 1986, 23% of all office fires were attributable to smoking.
