Local News in Brief : Woman Killed After Losing Control of Car

A 65-year-old woman driving her car at speeds up to 100 m.p.h. on the Golden State Freeway south of Castaic lost control of the vehicle and was killed, the California Highway Patrol reported Sunday.
Suzanne Carter veered off the southbound freeway north of Hasley Canyon Road and struck a fence shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, CHP Officer Charlotte Foley said.
Carter, of Palmdale, was run over by her car after she was thrown from it, Foley said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
