Patrols Search for Shark Seen Near Beach

STINSON BEACH, Calif. — Park rangers resumed special boat patrols on Thursday after a great white shark was sighted just offshore for the fifth time in nine days.
The shark, about 6 to 7 feet long, was spotted just beyond the surf line by a resident who had been watching seals frolicking in the surf, said Richard Danielsen, ranger for the Tamalpais district of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
Danielsen said it jumped about 2 feet out of the water 1 1/2 miles north of Stinson Beach.
“We have never had a shark attack at Stinson Beach, but that’s not to say it couldn’t happen,” Danielsen said.
