GM Recalls ’83 Models

WASHINGTON — General Motors Corp. has begun recalling 613,582 1983 Oldsmobiles and Buicks for repair of the vehicles’ emissions control systems, the Environmental Protection Agency said today. A defective thermal vacuum switch causes the cars to exceed federal standards on emission of gasoline vapors and carbon monoxide, the EPA said.
