Local News in Brief : 1,300 Homes, Firms in Dark Overnight
A faulty transformer “fizzled out” and left 1,300 Beverly Hills homes and firms without electricity overnight, officials said Friday.
The Southern California Edison transformer in an alley blew out at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, Police Lt. David Griffey said. Traffic signals continued to work, but street lights were out. There were no reports of outage-related crimes or traffic accidents.
