**EUROPE, “Out of This World,” Epic. A prime example of the corporate-rock formula of strong hooks, full-bodied arrangements and shallow lyrics, this best-selling Swedish group showed little evidence of emotion and inspiration in its first album last year. Here Europe tries to break out of that mold in a few places, but the group’s antiseptic vision can’t be changed overnight, and it’s doubtful that they really want to change. After all, their mass appeal comes from the fact that they’re easy on the ears and they don’t demand too much from the listener. And Europe’s career has never been based on taking risks.
