Flushed with Ambition

Louis Gutierrez, 26, is a self-confessed desperate character who wants a job--any job--in the Biz. Goal: “Eventually, I’d like to be another Steven Spielberg.”

But, for the part-time maintenance man and former cabbie, the traditional approach, like mailing out resumes, didn’t work: “Never got a single call back.” So, early this year, he took to posting his resume where it would be conspicuous to a captive audience--in industry restroom stalls.

“I realized people had to get my letter and be able to read it when they’re attention wasn’t being diverted,” he told us.

Roven Productions hired him as an office boy and runner after an exec noticed the notice. But the job was phased out in June and he’s back to plumbing for opportunities--with an added reference.

“He’s a hard worker and devoted individual,” affirmed Francine Lipsman, a Roven veep. “Louis had this amazing ability to fix anything that broke down in the office.”

Gutierrez current big hurdle: “Most of the people hiring are women--and I’m too embarrassed to sneak into women’s washrooms.”
