Sheriff’s Department investigators were searching Monday for two inmates who escaped from the minimum-security James A. Musick jail facility near El Toro during the weekend.
The inmates were discovered missing during a bed check at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, officials said. They were believed to have escaped together, but the method of escape had not been determined, sheriff’s officials said Monday.
Bradley Eugene Armes, 19, of Placentia, was arrested Aug. 3 on a warrant for petty theft and burglary and was serving a 30-day sentence. Frank Eugene Neilan, 24, a transient, was in custody for failure to appear on charges of driving with a suspended license and without proper registration.
The inmates are not considered dangerous, authorities said.
Two teams of sheriff’s fugitive investigators have been assigned the case.
