FOCUS, an organization of single young professionals supporting the fight against multiple sclerosis, is holding its big fund-raising event of the year Saturday. The theme is “1920s: An Absolute Roar,” a gala evening at the Hollywood Roosevelt. It will begin with a buffet around the David Hockney pool. Everyone will then move into the grand ballroom for dancing (music from the 1920s to the ‘80s), casino-style gambling tables and a raffle. Guests are encouraged to come in costumes of the ‘20s--or black tie. Most of the guests are expected to attend without dates.

FOCUS is one of 42 singles groups nationwide that raise funds to help combat MS. Started four years ago, it has 90 members, mostly in the 20- to 40-year-old range. “This has been a banner year for us,” said Dorrit Ragosine, vice president in charge of membership. The next big event is the International Beach Volleyball Classic, a three-day tournament at Will Rogers State Beach, Oct. 7-9 with FOCUS the beneficiary. There will be a celebrity/amateur game with Corbin Bernsen as one of the participants.

“1920s : An Absolute Roar” (FOCUS, Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Saturday, (818) 247-1175). $50 per person includes buffet and $20 in gambling chips. No - host bar. Reservations required by Thursday.
