Manager Pete Rose of the Cincinnati Reds, who is in the final year of his contract, says he isn’t concerning himself now with statements by owner Marge Schott about Rose’s chances of keeping his job.

Rose, whose team opened a series against the Dodgers Friday night in hopes of staying alive in the National League West race, said he expects to keep his job.

Schott told reporters this week that if Rose is to return as manager in 1989, it will be under a one-year contract and for less money. Rose’s expiring three-year contract paid him at least $500,000 a year.
